Battle of Little Bighorn 1/5

Watch the short film and answer questions posted below.

1) 00:00-3:00
Elaborate on how Custer's Last Stand is considered mythical or legendary.

2) 3:00-4:30
What is significant about the memorial site of Custer's Last Stand/Battle of Little Bighorn?

3) 6:00-6:18
"coup de grace" pronounced "koo de graw," what does this mean? Hint, the origin of this word comes from France during the 17th Century, literally, 'stroke of grace.'

4) Why do you think the Indians who were at Little Bighorn fought Custer, as opposed to watching and waiting for him to come down the hill and sit down for a meal and good chat? Explain your thinking... Did they know he was coming? Did they know who Custer was? What would they have fear?

1.) Custers last stand is considered mythical or legendary because the story that they knew was not true it was not how the war was abd they found that out when they heard the story from one of the indians grandsons.
2.) What is so significant about the memorial site of clusters last stand is that they were buried right were they lay and it is the only cemetery that has that
3.)

4.) they waited because sitting bull said that that day was a good day to die so they gathered all the indians they could to go to war i think they knew that cluster was coming and he wanted the war because he was mad anger about happening to being moved to a reservation.

The last stand is legendary but did it happen the way that it is told. They are searching and searching for the right imformation that would tell them what happen. He is already populare.

2. What is significant about the memorial site of Clusters last stand/ Battle of little bighorn?
The significant about the memorial site of last stand is that there are grave's were the people that died.

What koo de graw means is the death.

They did not want him to distroy there land. The white man would come and distroy there land for the gold. They could have by other indians.

1) It is said to be very gallant or something heroic. But in real general, it was a vicious battle with dirty fighting skills.

2) That the graves are actual place markers where the soldiers have fallen.

3) Death is the answer. How they dies and how both parties fought and their fighting skills

4)Because Sitting Bull had a vision that white men would attack. And besides, would you want a tea party, eating cakes and yummies, with the enemy that is about to force you out of your home? I know i would not.

1) Custer's Last Stand was mythical because it happened so long ago that nobody has the full truth about what happened and it was famous because the Indians won.

2) There are still the gravestones and dead bodies of people buried underneath the battleground and it makes you think.

3) It means the final blow to the person because the guy died from that final blow to the head.

4) They fought Custer because Sitting Bull had a vision and they all believed him.

1. Custer's Last Stand is considered mythical or legendary because they have no survivers to tell of how the battle happened and how Custer's army was defeated by the group on Indians.
2. The significance of the site of Custer's Last Stand is how all of the soldiers died and that none of the soldiers lived.
3. "coup de grace" means the final blow to the head.
4. The Indians fought Custer because they didn't want him to get far into their camp and be able to take control over them. The Indian's had sent out a man on an injured horse to lure the soldiers into their camp so they could attack the soldiers.

1. Custer's Last Stand is mythical or legendary because it is an important moment in history, this is when Col. Custer attacked the indians trying to get them into reservations. The indians fought extremely well defeting all the white men. It is almost a legend because all the white died but the indians survived so we practicaly have to go by the indians word about the battle.

2. The significance of the battle site is all the graves scattered every were those of white men who died, not indians. There may be some graves of indians not in white marble.

3. A action of battle for a good perpose.

4. The indians were defending there territory.

1. They said that it was "heroic" battle and it went till the last man standing was dead and that it was a hoard of Indians
2. It is significant because scientists had the chance to examine the bone to see what tools all the people used during the battle.
3. A death stroke intended to kill a person, but only wounding him.
4. Because the knew what Custer would try to do, and they didn't like his intentions.

2. it can tell what happened in the battle and if it really happened or if it was just a story to scare the little kids out of being bad
3."coup de grace" means to finish or end
4. Because they didn't approve of Custers intentions

1. Because they don't know what really happened there because all of our men were killed at the battle.
2.The places the peoples tombstones are at are the places they fell dead at.
3. Koo de graw I think means they hit him in the head or some sort of battle technic.
4. I think they went to war because they know it's their country and they knew Custard was the general and the one who tricked the Lakota indians.
